http://www.hypertope.com is a new international inter-disciplinary Academic Networking Site where professors, lecturers and students (PhD and Masters) can create user accounts and find fellow scholars in similar research fields. It's an easy way to keep contact with people you meet at conferences. It also serves as a portal for various academic groups and blogs, and as a hub for swift exchange and spread of relevant information between researchers. It allows for an easy way to create a page about the nature of one's research and to keep contact with fellow researchers without the need of keeping track of ever-chaging e-mail addresses. Users can establish research groups and publicize their calls for papers and academic events using RSVP technology. Users can have their own academic blog if they wish. There is also the repository of bibliographic data.
Hypertope.com was launched in the begining of September 2007. Normally, in order to create a user account, a person must first be invited by an existing member of hypertope. However, for the initial promotional period only the gates are opened and anyone can create a user account. After this promotional period is over, the gates will be shut and membership policy will revert back to invitations only.
A Blog Carnival is a blog that collects articles that are submitted by other blogs. Here is an example of the submission site for the Active Learning Carnival that is published monthly. [1]
